Use lifts to raise one’s existing furniture
A tip from “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions – Self-Management of Heart Disease, Arthritis, Diabetes, Asthma, Bronchitis, Emphysema and others”.
I attended a workshop twice put on by Sanford Health because it was so good and getting tips from other attendees made it worth attending a 2nd time. The workshop followed the book “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions – Self-Management of Heart Disease, Arthritis, Diabetes, Asthma, Bronchitis, Emphysema and others”. The course recommended simple cost effective measures that really make a difference in living well with a chronic condition. One measure was to use lifts to raise one’s existing furniture to see if that would help before spending a lot more money on a lift chair or new bed.
I recently sprained my ankle and had a heck of a time getting up off of my couch. Remembering what I had learned in that course, I bought these 3″ lifts and put them under my couch. Getting up is now so easy and this simple fix was also so easy on my pocketbook. I chose these lifts because they seemed very sturdy and they come with strips to fill the gaps around the furniture legs to prevent wobbling. I have both the paperback and audio CD of the book in my library. Great reference book. Lots of tips. This is just one of many.
