Use Fully Synthetic Oil, a Synthetic Oil Filter, and a bottle of Fuel System cleaner every oil change.

When my pickup was 10 yrs old, a neighbor mechanic was recruited for big bucks to maintain our military vehicles overseas. Treating me like his mom, he offered to change my oil for free in his garage. He wrote down 3 items that he needed me to buy to keep my old vehicle running. The oil will only last as long as the filter does. So if you want to change your oil every 15,000 miles or once a year whichever comes first, buy both the fully synthetic oil AND the synthetic filter. Then add the fuel cleaner at the same time.

My pickup is a ’99 Ford Ranger and she passes the emissions test every time. I love it when I pull in to be tested. All the guys have to look under the hood. And when they Yell “99 Ford Ranger PASSES” with the workers all clapping, I am reminded to give thanks for that mechanics advice.
